Need it Structural? You Want Fill Dirt, Not Topsoil.

Topsoil decomposes over time — never put it under foundations, pads or pavers. For that, you need fill dirt. We deliver both.

FAQ

Topsoil Questions We Hear a Lot.

What is topsoil used for?
Topsoil is used to grow things — new lawns, garden beds, raised planters, sod prep, tree wells, and landscape finishing. It has organic matter and nutrients to support plant growth, unlike fill dirt which is structural.
What types of topsoil do you deliver?
Screened topsoil (the standard), garden soil mix (amended with compost), raised bed planter mix (fluffy and well-draining), and bulk lawn topsoil — all delivered across Cedar City and Iron County, UT.
How deep should topsoil be for a new lawn?
For a new lawn or sod prep, 4–6 inches of topsoil is the standard. For overseeding an existing lawn, 1–2 inches as a top-dress is plenty. For raised vegetable beds, 8–12 inches.
What’s the difference between topsoil and fill dirt?
Topsoil is for growing plants — has organic matter and nutrients. Fill dirt is structural — no organics, used under construction. Never use topsoil as structural fill (it decomposes and settles). Never use fill dirt in garden beds (nothing will grow). See our fill dirt delivery page for structural applications.
Is there a minimum delivery amount?
No minimum. We deliver half-loads for backyard garden beds just as happily as multi-load runs for landscape installs and new construction lawn establishment.
How fast can you deliver topsoil?
Same-day or next-day in most cases for Cedar City and Parowan — call by 10 AM for same-day. Most other Iron County addresses scheduled within the same week. Spring is our busiest topsoil season.
How is pricing structured?
Per-load, all-in pricing. No yard fees, no fuel surcharges. Call (435) 592-5112 with the spec and quantity for an on-the-spot quote.
